Purpose: To enrich student's knowledge about contributions brought by the many cultures
to our beautiful State of California. Students can express their vision creatively through the visual arts to share
their knowledge about California history.
Eligibility: Open to all students from grades six to twelve in public and private schools
in the San Gabriel Valley.
Requirements: Create a visual representation about California history past, present, or
future about a certain time period, important person, landscape, or image that besr reveals the importance of its rechness
to the many people who live here.
Sources: The visual representation must be the student's original composition and can be
in varied form and medium such as canvas, drawing, oil, watercolor, pencil, ink, wood, ceramic, or any dimensional project.
The student's name, grade, and school must be attached to the artwork.
Important Dates: Final application deadline for entry will be Friday May 13, 2011.
All drawings, paintings or projects will be picked up at the student's local school office during the first week of June.
Students will receive notification at their school by the second week of June 2011.
Awards: Prizes will be awarded as follows: First Place-$200, Second Place-$150, Third
Place-$100. There will also be four honorable mentions @$50 each. Winning enries will be exhibited in the Ramona
Museum of California History for the summer of 2011.
